Boarded my dog for the first time ever and was definitely nervous since I’d never left him with anyone before. The staff was so kind, patient, and reassuring, and explained everything which really put me at ease. I also tried daycare for the first time, and he came home happy and seemed like he had a great time! Finished his stay with a full groom, which was his second time getting groomed there, and they did a great job as always. Great staff, great service, and I highly recommend!

I discovered K9s Place by Google searching dog daycares in the Melbourne area as, I was traveling with my dog, Syrah, for the first time for over a week and knew she’d need a place to stay during times I couldn’t take her with me. K9s Place had the most impressive, detailed website it was an easy choice…as long as they lived up to what their website described…THEY DID! Arranging an assessment appt and reserving daycare day was super easy. Although, for the 2 weeks prior, I was so worried she wouldn’t pass her assessment, lol. My dog is a 9 yr old Tibetan Terrier who often can behaves like an out of control, hyperactive puppy plus, she has separation anxiety and had never been to daycare. Not only the owners but everyone at K9s Place welcomed her as soon as we walked in. Syrah passed Trevor’s assessment and she spent 4 days at daycare; each day eager to get inside and upon picking her up, she was ready for an afternoon nap during the daily thunderstorms before we went to dinner. We were also able to fit in a personal training session with Brendon and Chelsea who were very patient and offered both Syrah and I clear directions and guidance on achieving positive results with her general behavior and learning to control her impulses. Syrah has come home like a (somewhat) calm, new dog. She waits for my instruction, sits as calm as she can, when greeting people, walks with and near me on the leash, doesn’t bark her head off at the Amazon driver and it’s like I brought home a much more chill, happy dog. We learned in one hour more take-aways than we have in the 3 different training courses during her first 2 years that were taught through a vet, pet store and other dog trainer for a whole lot more expense. Another thing that stood out to me is each person working at K9s Place was there because they enjoyed being around the dogs and doing what they do. Good vibes, happy dogs. I highly recommend K9s Place for both daycare and training and wish they were near our home south of Seattle.

This place gave my dog boundaries. It taught us how to handle him when he gets out of control and he is just the perfect pet now that we know what we're doing. So thank you so much for helping us. This was a great investment in our dog's future. Cheers!

I am incredibly impressed with the 2 week board and train program. I went from not being able to keep control of my dog when out for walks to having full control on walks of my respectful and well mannered dog on day one out of training. I look forward now to his full participation in our families activities because we now have the tools and confidence to bring him out. The board and train program has completely exceeded my expectations! Thank you K9 Place!

Why Dog Crate Training is Essential: The Foundation for Good Behavior

Many dog owners struggle with common behavior problems that can be solved through proper crate training. Without a structured approach, issues such as separation anxiety, destructive chewing, and house soiling can become long-term challenges. Investing in dog crate training ensures your dog has a safe, structured environment that encourages good behavior and helps them adapt to everyday routines.

Our crate training can help your furry friend overcome these challenges:

    • Separation Anxiety: Dogs may become anxious or destructive when left alone, leading to excessive barking, chewing, and scratching.
    • Housebreaking Challenges: Without a crate, puppies and adult dogs can develop inconsistent bathroom habits, leading to frequent indoor accidents.
    • Destructive Chewing: Untrained dogs often chew on furniture, shoes, and household items, causing frustration and costly damage.
    • Lack of Routine: Dogs thrive on structure, and without crate training, they may struggle with boundaries, restlessness, or difficulty settling.

At K9’s Place, we help dog owners with a structured and compassionate crate training approach that builds confidence and encourages positive habits.

    Good Behavior Starts with Structure

When you choose K9’s Place for dog crate training in Melbourne, FL, you’re investing in your dog’s well-being and peace of mind. Our expert trainers ensure that crate training is a positive experience that benefits both dogs and their owners.

    • Faster Housebreaking: A properly crate-trained dog learns house manners faster, reducing indoor accidents.
    • Improved Behavior: Dogs with crate training experience less anxiety and destructive behavior.
    • Enhanced Travel Comfort: Crate-trained dogs travel more easily and experience less stress in new environments.
    • Greater Independence: Dogs feel safe and secure in their crate, even when left alone for short periods.
    • Safer Home Environment: Owners can leave home with confidence, knowing their dog is secure and comfortable.

How to Crate Train a Puppy the K9s Place Way

At K9’s Place, we use a step-by-step process to introduce dogs to crate training in a stress-free and rewarding way. Our goal is to make the crate a positive, safe space that your dog enjoys spending time in rather than a place of punishment or isolation.

    Establishing Positive Crate Associations

Dogs need to see their crate as a safe and welcoming retreat, not a place of confinement. We reinforce positive crate habits by:

    • Feeding meals inside the crate to build positive associations.
    • Encouraging rest and relaxation in the crate with soft bedding.
    • Using praise and reinforcement every time your dog enters the crate on
      their own.

    Gradual Crate Training Sessions

We implement short, positive crate training sessions to help dogs adjust at their own pace. Our training includes:

    • Teaching dogs to stay in the crate for increasing periods while remaining calm.
    • Ensuring crate time aligns with a consistent routine to reinforce expectations.
    • Encouraging independence while ensuring the dog feels secure inside the crate.

    Housebreaking and Overnight Training

Crate training plays a vital role in housebreaking puppies and adult dogs. We help establish a clear bathroom schedule by:

    • Taking dogs outside immediately after crate time to reinforce potty training.
    • Using scheduled crate breaks to minimize indoor accidents.
    • Teaching owners how to maintain consistency in housebreaking routines.

Crate Training for Travel and Vet Visits

Generally, dogs that are crate trained experience less stress during travel and vet visits. Our training prepares dogs to:

    • Feel comfortable in crates during car rides.
    • Remain calm and relaxed in new environments.
    • Adapt to changes in routine without anxiety or fear.

Give your dog the confidence to travel with ease and stay calm at the vet.
Stress-free trips start with K9’s Place.
